Law School Addition Construction (Animated Picture)

Columbia Law School long had one of the ugliest buildings in the neighborhood. Its ghastly piece-de-resistance, visible below, was the bloated, formless sculpture Bellerophon Taming Pegasus over the entrance. Though the sculpture remains, the building itself has been radically improved by this sleek new addition of a lounge, designed by James Stewart Polshek (his firm), who also designed Sulzberger Tower on Barnard's campus. The original is by Harrison and Abramowitz, one of the main architects of Lincoln Center downtown. Now if only Columbia would do something about the concrete slab pedestrian bridge visible at the left of this picture.
