This pedestrian bridge cuts off the view of recently-restored Casa Italiana and of Philosophy Hall. It creates a gloomy tunnel for pedestrians on Amsterdam Ave. and is believed to increase traffic accidents. To maintain access to East Campus, it would probably be best not to tear down the whole bridge, but to leave up a narrow walkway, preferably at the north end. Columbia has shown some vague receptivity to this proposal.
