Teachers College

Teachers College of Columbia University, the birthplace of progressive education under philosopher John Dewey, is the top-ranked school of education in America. It has a heavy bricked gothic style that was deliberately made different from the Renaissance style of the main Columbia campus. This building has an exquisite dining hall and conceals a number of secluded courtyards. For a picture of this building 70 years or so ago, click here. At left are the towers of Union Theological Seminary and Riverside Church.
