Manhattan From the Air (1949)

This picture shows Manhattan before the advent of modern architecture - the skyline is still one of delicate art-deco spires, there is no World Trade Center, and the old finger piers still line the waterfront. This picture can be dated with great precision by which major buildings have or have not been built yet. Our neighborhood is located diagonally north-west from the northwest corner of Central Park; you are looking north. Click here for a map.
