International House, Riverside Drive at 123rd Street

International House, which has siblings in Chicago, Tokyo, and Berkeley, was built with Rockefeller money to promote international understanding by helping foreign students to come study in the U.S. It was designed by Louis Jallade of Lindsay & Warren. It has fine facilities (interior picture) and many recreational programs. In front is Sakura Park with its bandstand and real Japanese cherry trees, which blossom every year. Under construction, 1922.
