Contruction MessRenovation and new construction in the confines of Manhattan will always have some impact on the surrounding area, but there are limits to what neighbors should be expected to put up with. Giant piles of construction debris on the street for months, overflowing dumpsters that seem to live forever and attract rats, and trucks using quiet side streets as their private driveways are not okay. Columbia has promised to tell its contractors to behave, but there are others.
